When Liam Hicks homered in the first inning on Saturday, the Rays seemed well on their way to a Game 2 win. But thanks to a persistent offence and impressive bullpen, the Brewers rallied back to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the World Series.
Seamus Power made up a two-shot deficit over the wind-blown closing holes Saturday at Port Royal for a 4-under 67, giving him a share of the lead with Austin Smotherman going into the final round of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - AUGUST 15: (Photo by Ed Mulholland/Zuffa LLC)Damon Martin is a veteran journalist and insider covering combat sports since 2003. Carlos Prates is battling Michael Morales for an interim welterweight title at UFC 336, but why exactly is a new championship being introduced with Islam Makhachev still holding onto his belt? Original plans for UFC 336 had Makhachev defending his title in the main event against Prates but suddenly the reigning welterweight champion became unavailable and plans changed for the organization. On Saturday at UFC 333, UFC CEO Dana White addressed the situation and why the promotion decided to introduce a new belt rather than just declare Prates vs. Morales as a No. 1 contender’s fight. “On average, Islam fights like one time a year,” White said at the post-fight press conference. “He was slated for January and then said ‘I don’t want to fight until after Ramadan.’“You can’t hold up divisions like this. You’ve got to keep moving and this fight makes sense.”Makhachev last fought in August where he scored a unanimous decision victory over Ian Machado Garry in his latest title defese.
Toto Wolff has conceded that he doesn’t fully understand how Kimi Antonelli executed a “miracle lap” in Qualifying for the United States Grand Prix, which earned the Italian pole position.
Although Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc topped the times in Q1 and Q2 respectively, Antonelli put together a crucial lap in the final segment to take provisional pole with a time of 1m 34.035s.

NEWARK, N. J. (AP) Brett Pesce scored the go-ahead goal and Jake Allen made 12 saves as the New Jersey Devils beat the Los Angeles Kings 3-1 on Saturday for their third straight win. Anthony Mantha and Artemy Gritsyuk also scored for the Devils, who also beat Colorado and Anaheim on their current homestand. New Jersey has won five of six. Allen improved to 5-2-0 this season. Scott Laughton scored for Los Angeles, which saw its two-game winning streak snapped. Forsberg made 23 saves. Pesce beat goaltender Anton Forsberg at 8:08 of the third period after the defenseman found a clear lane through traffic in the Los Angeles zone. Luke Evangelista and Gritsyuk assisted on Pesce’s first goal this season. Before the game, the Devils introduced newly acquired goaltender Connor Hellebuyck. The 33-year-old Hellebuyck won 345 games in 11 seasons with Winnipeg and is a three-time winner of the Vezina Trophy. New Jersey included goaltender Nico Daws, who won against Anaheim on Thursday, in the trade for Hellebuyck on Friday. Remi Poirier, who has yet to play an NHL game, dressed as Allen’s backup on Saturday.
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Kimi Antonelli came to the United States Grand Prix with his eyes on a Formula 1 season championship getting closer with every race. On Sunday at the Circuit of the Americas, he’ll have the clearest view possible of the path to get there. And it could come fast. Mercedes’ championship leader earned a surprise pole position on Saturday, edging Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. If he can turn that into a victory, and his closest rivals falter, the 20-year-old Italian could win the season title and become F1’s youngest champion ever. Verstappen was the favorite for pole. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton looked faster than Mercedes through all three practice sessions. Then Antonelli put in a late-afternoon wonder lap at COTA to earn his first pole position since Belgium, a span of seven races.. “It was surprising,” Antonelli said. “I’m just going to try to do the best race I can, try to win and see what happens.”The math for a season championship requires some help but achievable. First he must win. If he does that, and Mercedes teammate George Russell finishes ninth or lower, and Hamilton finishes outside the top four, Antonelli will be champion.
REGINA — Tommy Stevens admits landing in the CFL record book is a bit surreal for him. Stevens, the short-yardage specialist for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, scored two rushing touchdowns in Saturday’s 16-9 victory over the Edmonton Elks to break the league's single-season mark for rushing majors. In his second season with the Riders, the 6-foot-4, 245-pound Stevens tied the league record on a one-yard plunge in the second quarter and then grabbed the record for himself with another one-yard run in the fourth quarter. After the game, Stevens was still trying to come to terms with topping the previous mark that was held by Saskatchewan legend George Reed and former Ottawa Redblacks quarterback Caleb Evans. “It hasn't really set in yet, but I'm not going to sit here and act like I didn't want it. I knew what was at stake. I knew that it was a possibility. Maybe it was selfish, I don't know," said Stevens, who has scored 47 rushing touchdowns in 86 games. "Obviously, with what George meant to this team, this province, it’s surreal to have your name mentioned alongside his and I’m so incredibly thankful. But like I told guys in the locker room, it's not just my name, this is our award
The UFC 333 card in Abu Dhabi was a great reminder that most people couldn't be a successful MMA fighter. Saturday's event proved that no matter what people think, there's levels to this game.
Alexander Volkanovski stopped Movsar Evloev to defend his belt in a fight that was close on paper, but not in how it played out inside the Octagon. Adam Martin breaks down the action from an exciting UFC 333 card.
The next contract of defenceman Quinn Hughes has been a talking point for some time and played a major role in his trade from the Vancouver Canucks to the Minnesota Wild last December. Hughes is set to become an unrestricted free agent after this season and had told then-Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin he did not intend to re-sign with the team. On the eve of Hughes’ return to Vancouver as a member of the Wild, the star blueliner indicated he might be willing to stick around in Minnesota. When asked about his contract situation by The Athletic’s Joe Smith in Seattle, Hughes said his feet are “planted” in Minnesota and indicated he wouldn’t be surprised if something happens soon. “I’m where I’ve always been. I’m excited right now. My two feet are planted in Minnesota and you know, something could happen soon,” he said. “I’m not really sure. I’m really enjoying playing here… there’s a lot of things that are set up nicely here for me to have success individually and as a team. We have a great team.
